Trinidad
1855 (10 Aug.) large part wrapper "per Steamer" to France, bearing Lithograph Second Issue (1d.) pale greenish blue, touched to large margins cancelled by indistinct strike of "1" obliterator with a fair strike of "colonies/&c art.13." in red and manuscript "36" rate mark, the reverse with despatch c.d.s., London transit (6.9) and Paris to Havre (7.9), the other missing with the flap; two vertical filing creases. An interesting combination of markings as on arrival in Barbados the R.M.S. packet 'Eagle' was found to be disabled so the mail was carried to St.Thomas on a hired ship. Photo
