1897-1909 2½d. colour trial blocks of four on gummed and inverted watermarked paper, in indigo, brown-red, deep blue, purple-brown, violet-blue, turquoise and brown-orange, also 2½d. carmine on grey-blue and 2½d. dull claret on grey-blue, blocks of four on gummed and watermarked paper, each from the upper-right corner of the pane, endorsed in the margin "... on blue paper/Dec. 1898" or "Essay/Not appd/for colour/16.12.98", one thinned and a few minor imperfections but mostly fine and very scarce
