Greenish blue horizontal pair, [69-70], [70] showing retouched arches at left, both with indistinct Renouf Type cancellation and tied on 1856 (Apr.) entire from an army officer "Via Bombay & Marseilles" to his mother in England, variously rated and showing oval-framed "india" in red, four transit and arrival datestamps on reverse. An attractive franking emanating from the same correspondence as the famous first day cover franking offered in the "Rajah" sale of 1988. Photo
