AH small to huge margins, previously used, on entire letter, dated 1 Oct. 1840 to Newbury, endorsed "Stamp Used before", the adhesive (which has a clear red Maltese Cross) is pencancelled and with manuscript "2" alongside, Marlborough datestamp on reverse; fine. A highly important entire letter in wonderful condition, and a very rare and early example of attempted postal fraud. Photo
