Note: In Marcus Samuel's "Specimen Stamps of the Crown Colonies", page 42, he states "Such stamps are very rare with only two copies of the Gold Coast 1921 15s. and £2 thus overprinted having been recorded. It is suggested that for some reason the number of UPU specimens overprinted by De La Rue and Co. with their normal type of D12 fell short of requirements and that the number was made up with these abnormal items".
