1844 (8 Mar.) entire letter to Harrogate with superb blue "otley" datestamp and an exceptional strike in red of the rare "paid/1d." (incorporating the name of the inventive Postmistress holmes in the "1") alongside (Willcocks & Jay 2140); unobtrusive vertical filing fold well clear of the markings. Believed to be the finest known example of the Otley Uniform Penny Post marking and extremely appealing. Photo
