Edward III (1327-77), Farthing, London, 0.34g, mm. cross pattée, eowardvs rex, rev. civi tas loii doii, the o in loii is made from a c overlaid with a reversed crescent, three pellets in each quarter (N.1070/2; S.1538), strong centres with a weak periphery, good fine with the reverse better. Very rare with the smaller than usual dies. Requires further research.

For further reading on this coin see BNJ vol.LXII pl.8/26 and p.99. Lord Stewartby attributes this coin as an E/G mule with an annulet in the LON quarter, but this cataloguer is unable to reconcile the annulet. North was undecided between Edward II and III.
