Edward the Confessor (1042-66), Penny, 1.79g, Expanding Cross type, Heavy Issue, York, Elfwine, diademed bust left, in front, sceptre with a trefoil head, rev. +ÆLFPINEE ON EOFERI, short cross voided with expanding limbs joined at the base by two circles, an annulet in the reverse field (N823; S1177), toned, very fine.
