Aethelred II (978-1016), Penny, 1.33g, Second Hand type, Exeter, Byrhsige, diademed bust right, sceptre in front with trefoil head, rev.BYRHSIGE M-O EAXE, Hand of Providence issuing from clouds with edges that billow outwards, dividing A W (N768; S1146), peck marks with a small stress crack at the shoulder and at the corresponding point on the reverse but not showing light, attractively toned, very fine, the reverse better.
