Russia: St.Petersburg Land and Mortgage Company Limited, 5% debentures, set of three sterling bonds for £20, £100 and £500, 19(12), the first with signature of Evelyn Hubbard, the second with a fcsimile of the same, all signed by H. Jekyll, lovely vignettes of St.Petersburg at top, red, blue and orange respectively, printed by Waterlow & Sons, Ltd., with coupons, the last about very fine, the others better, the last rare. (3)

Sir Herbert Jekyll ( 1843-1932), military engineer and civil servant. Brother of Gertrude Jekyll the famous horticulturalist and garden designer. Herbert was best known for his collaboration with Lutyens on the British Pavillion for the 1900 Paris Exhibition.
The Honourable Evelyn Hubbard (1852-1934), 5th son of Baron Addington, entered the family firm of Russia merchants in 1875, last Governor of the Russia Company and a director of the Bank of England.
