Die Gesellschaft wurde 1903 mit Sitz in Mesocco gegründet. 1907 konnte die Strecke eröffnet werden. Die Schmalspurbahn wurde von Anfang an elektrisch und als erste Europas als Gleichstrombahn (1500Volt) betrieben. 1942 erfolgte der Zusammenschluss mit der Rhätischen Bahn. 1978 wurde die Strecke stillgelegt.
