Navarino Recovery Ltd., 2 shilling shares, fully paid, 192(4), no.476, and 192(5}, no. 1554, large format, scrollwork border of different design on each, green. Company formed to salvage the Turkish Fleet sunk by Admiral Codrington at the Battle of Navarino in 1828 under concession granted by the Greek Government. The company located many ships and estimated the treasure to worth in excess of £10 million and then the Greek Government stopped the salvage without warning. Some edge tears but otherwise very fine.
