The Johann N. Vernay Druckerei und Verlagsaktiengesellschaft (Vernay AG) was one of the biggest Austrian publisher during the interwar years. It was founded in 1913 under the lead of the Anglo-Österreichischen Bank. It consisted of the publisher Johann N. Vernay and all the publishing rights of the Compass-Verlag. In 1936, the company was again split into the Compass-Verlag and the Vernay publisher. Shortly after the "Anschluss", most of the management were arrested and the publishing business taken over by Frohwerk-Erwin Metten & Co.
