The company was founded 1922 for mining of coal in Ratten (70 km from Graz) by the Italian Societa "Oriente", Fiume and was part of the "Adria" Seeschiffahrtsgesellschaft. In 1944, it was bought by the "Steirische Kohlenwerke AG"and was managed by "Österreichisch Alpine Montangesellschaft". The mine was closed in 1960.
