The Ankerbrotfabrik was founded in 1891 by the Jewish brothers Heinrich and Fritz Mendl. Soon it became one of the most important bakery producers in the Monarchy. In 1922, it was turned into an AG. In 1938, the founder's family had to flee the country. Still today it is one of the biggest bakery producers in Austria. Print signature of Fritz Mendl (1864-1929).
