The Kronprinz Rudolf-Bahn was founded in 1866. Its lines went through Lower and Upper Austria, Kärnten, Steiermark and Krain and in parts of today's Italy and Slovenia. In 1889, the railway was nationalized. The loan was repaid in the 1920s.
