Exchequer Bill 1745, £100 bill, raised by the Act for Granting the duties on Malt etc., no.605, handsigned by Sir Robert Walpole, black on buff paper, scrollwork at right, date not completed and not registered by an Exchequer clerk, laid down on backing paper, very fine. [R10*]

Robert Walpole (1676-1745), Ist Earl of Orford, First Lord of the Treasury and Chancellor of the Exchequer and therefore the 1st British Prime Minister .
We sold a similar piece in 2014 with the left hand scrollwork missing and without Walpoles signature. No fully issued examples have been seen possibly due to Walpoles untimely death in the same year.
