(x) James I (1603-1625), third coinage, Rose Ryal, 12.48g, m.m. spur rowel, iacobvs d g ma bri fr et hib rex, king enthroned holding orb and sceptre, back of throne garnished with semée of thistles, portcullis at feet, rich pattern of roses and lis in field, rev. a dno factvm est istvd et est mirab in oc nri, shield over cross fleury, value xxx above, within circle decorated with lis, lions and roses (Schneider 77, same dies; N.2108; S.2632), tiny scratches above shield on reverse under a deep reddish/gold tone, with strong and detailed portrait, a very handsome example of this splendid work of art, almost extremely fine, rare
