(x) Elizabeth I (1558-1603), sixth issue 1583-1600, Half-Pound, m.m. tun, elizab d g ang fra et hib regin, bust of queen facing left, wearing elaborate dress, rev. scvtvm fidei proteget eam, crowned shield dividing e-r (N.2009; S.2535), this very ornate type of Elizabethan Half-Pound is considerably rarer than the plainer style Half-Pound, and probably much rarer than the Pound piece in the top grades, extremely fine, proof-like fields, an abundance of original luster and very sharply struck on a larger than average flan, NGC graded AU-55
