1894 (22 July) opened-out envelope registered from the U.S. Consulate in Tientsin to New Hampshire "Via Yokohama" bearing, on the reverse, 3ca. reddish purple block of four cancelled by Tientsin seal in script writing in black with the despatch c.d.s. alongside plus Customs Shanghai (26.7) in blue, Yokohama (1.8), Montreal (23.8), large oval Boston registered (24.8) and Nashua arrival datestamps; the address side with Japan Koban 5s. and 10s. tied by "i.j.p.o. shanghai/meiji 27" c.d.s. with red "R" in oval and I.J.P.O. registration label. A fine cover and an unusual route via Montreal and Boston. The script obliterator is quite scarce.
Pays 12ca. being 6ca. rate to U.S.A. via Japan plus 6ca. registration
