IG grey-black shade, very worn impression, large to huge margins all round and showing a portion of the adjoining stamp at foot, tied to entire letter by a light red Maltese Cross cancellation in a 'lilac rose' shade, which leaves the Queen's profile clear, dated 15 May 1840, with Colchester c.d.s. in the same colour on reverse; Superb in every respect.
