(†) The Natal Bank Limited, South Africa, printers archival specimen £1, ND (c1914), serial number range B6001-9000, purple on green and orange underprint, seated female allegories at top centre, value at centre and each corner, reverse blue, perforated SPECIMEN
(probably Pick S466 for type, see notes below), ink annotation in upper margin "Pietermaritzburg 013088. April 1914", uncirculated and a very odd item. Colour trials are almost never produced with serial number ranges, and the ink date does not match the issue day of 1906. This item may well be from the rarer Transvaal series (Pick S613-615) for which a £1 has not been seen
