(x) British Military Mission, 500 rubles, 5 December 1918, serial number 5089, uniface, black text on tan paper, purple handstamp at low left, value at low left, payable after three months
(Pick S1148a, Kardakov p.170.2.no.1), in ZG holder 40, extremely fine, issued by Major-General Wilfrid Malleson as part of the allied military mission, attempting to intervene in the Russian Civil War. He was deployed in Turkestan to assist the Transcaspian Government against the Bolsheviks, and to curtail attempts by the Germans and Turks to influence the region. These notes are excessively rare and are considered one of the "big three" Russian notes needed to form the best collections
