Auction: 16008 - British and World Banknotes
Lot: 883

Central Bank of Cyprus, specimen 250 mils printed on 'Bradvek', 1 June 1982, serial number S/79 00000, blue on multicolour underprint, arms at right, oranges at left, map at low right, reverse blue, Skouriotissa Mine at centre, numbered B012 on reverse
(Pick 41s for type, TBB B301s for type), Bradvek was a form of Tyvek polymer, first used for printing one of the £1 Isle of Man banknotes in 1983. This ties in perfectly with the date of this note, and proves that trials were performed for other countries as well. There is no watermark or equivalent, but the design is otherwise identical to the 250 mils issued in 1982. Completely uncirculated, and an important find. Currently the only example believe extant.
