South Africa 1877-79, one clasp, 1877-8-9 (70 Pte. J. Llewellyn. 2/24th. Foot.), obverse relief slightly polished, miniscule edge bruise, good very fine

70 Private James Llewellyn, enlisted 2nd Battalion, 24th Foot, Manchester, Lancashire, March 1874; served with the battalion during the South African Campaign, 1877-79, and was killed in action aged 22 serving with 'G' Company at the Battle of Isandhlwana, 22.1.1879. His effects were claimed by his widow, his medal with '1877-8-9' clasp being issued in April 1881.
