The Medals for Loyal and Meritorious Service were instituted by the Emirate of Bokhara under the reign of Emir Muzaffar al-Din bin Nasr-Allah (1860-1886). Medals of three grades- Gold, Silver and Bronze were awarded for both civil and military service to the Emir.
