Waterloo 1815 (Willm. Mc.Loughlin 3rd. Bat. 1st Foot. or R. Scots.), name contemporarily and neatly re-engraved in upright serif capitals, edge bruising, very fine, with contemporary silver clip and straight bar suspension

Two Privates with the name William McLaughlin appear on the latest published transcript of the Medal Roll for having served in the 3rd Battalion, Royal Scots during the Waterloo Campaign, 16-18.6.1815; one in Captain J. MacRa's No.4 Company, and one in Captain A. MacLachlan's No.9 Company. There is no man with the name William McLoughlin on the roll.
