No.3547, 3rd Buffs...), contemporarily engraved in large serif capitals, suspension re-pinned; China 1857-60, one clasp, Taku Forts 1860 (John Eagan, 1st. Bn. 3rd. Regt.); France, Second Empire, Medaille Militaire, silver and silver-gilt, enamel completely lacking; Turkish Crimea, Sardinian die (No.3547. John. Egan [sic]. 1.B. 3rd. Buffs), crudely contemporarily engraved in upright capitals, plugged, with Crimean-style suspension, heavy contact marks, worn, therefore nearly very fine (4)
3547 Private John Eagan, 3rd Foot, 'was repeatedly mentioned for his soldier-like behaviour throughout the siege [of Sebastopol], and specially distinguished himself at the Redan, on the 8th September, 1855.' (The Crimean Campaign refers).
