D.C.M. Recommended 4.1.1855

2217 Private Angus Bowie, D.C.M., enlisted in the 42nd Royal Highlanders (Black Watch), November 1845; served with the Regiment in the Crimea, and awarded the D.C.M. for 'gallant conduct when employed as a sharpshooter before Sebastopol between 17th and 24th October 1854' (Chronology and Book of Days of the 42nd Royal Highlanders refers); died of disease, Barielly, India, August 1859.

Approximately seven Distinguished Conduct Medals awarded to the 42nd Royal Highlanders in respect of their sharpshooting at Sebastopol, 17-24.10.1854.
