The 2nd type of the Royal Army Temperance Association Six Month Medal was issued to commemorate the death of Field Marshal The Earl Roberts of Kandahar, V.C., K.G., K.P., G.C.B., O.M., G.C.S.I., G.C.I.E. in 1914.

The Four Year and Six Year Medals were only awarded to members of Indian Organisations; those members of Home Organisations continued to receive the 'Excelsior' and 'Watch and Be Sober' Bars to the Three Year and Five Year Medals respectively.
