Naval General Service 1793-1840, two clasps, 23rd June 1795, Camperdown (Thomas Simpson.), light contact marks to obverse, otherwise good very fine

Thomas Simpson served as Landsman in the Teaser Gun Boat, two other men of the same name appear on the Admiralty Claimants List; Simpson served in the Teaser for the defeat of the French fleet and capture of three ships-of-the-line by Admiral Bridport off the Isle de Groix, Brittany. Simpson was the only man to claim this clasp for the Teaser (British Battles and Medals, refers). He later served in H.M.S. Adamant for the defeat of the Dutch fleet by the British Naval squadrons under Admiral Duncan, including the capture of nine ships-of-the-line and two frigates off the Dutch coast, 11.10.1797. Two Large Naval Gold Medals and fourteen Small Naval Gold Medals were awarded for Camperdown.
