'In recognition of valuable services rendered.'

Dr. Keith Digby Young, O.B.E., (1916-2003); the son of Captain H.G.D. Young and Mrs. Annie Young; educated at Trinity Hall, Cambridge; Commissioned Surgeon Lieutenant, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, 28.3.1941, and served during the Second World War; after the War served as a Medical Officer with the Colonial Office in Zanzibar, 1946-51, and the Somaliland Protectorate, 1951-60; in both posts he was much involved in the fight against tuberculosis, then endemic throughout the area, and the impact of his policy of setting up isolation clinics throughout both the island and the protectorate was significant.
