Master J.J. Smith served as Master of the Transport Vessel Whitley.

Approximately 105 no clasp Egypt Medals awarded to 'Masters of Transports engaged in connection with the operations in Egypt 1882' (ADM 171/41 refers). Only the Master of each eligible Transport Vessel received a no clasp medal, together with the 1882 Khedive's Star.
