Lot: 2230
Hellrigl #43f, g var., 37a var., 1917-30 4a Yellow green and 1a Yellow green error of color with recut frame, pin-perforated, complete sheet of 64, setting 12, a lovely perforated example of this scarce setting, unused, without gum as issued, position 8 is the 1a value error of color and being inverted is tete-beche with adjacent 4a values, three inverted 4a cliches are found in positions 54, 56, 57, large well balance selvages all around, strong color and a fairly clear desirable impression, very fine; though the various values in the telegraph period were not normally perforated, Smythies noted contemporaneously that a few sheets were found pin-perforated as earlier issues had been, he speculated that this was done in trial; whether trials or privately done this variety is a nice addition to a specialized collection (Scott #17, c var.; $5,540.00+; S.G. #41, b var.; £3,382+).
