(2c) Spaulding's Penny Post beautifully struck coin handstamp with the denomination deleted at center on 1847 folded letter from artist Vernon Henry to Buffalo, N.Y., red "New York/15 Dec" datestamp with integral "10 cts" rate, pencil receipt docketing, very fine; one of the truly great U.S. local stampless covers, being the only recorded example of the one cent handstamp with the "One Cent" deleted due to a rate increase on 15 November, 1847 to 2c; signed Sloane and accompanied by 2005 PF certificate; see article in the Collector's Club Philatelist by Petri, Vol. 32, No. 2;
