#1, 5c Red brown, an exceptionally attractive four margin single with lovely deep color and vivid impression, tied to a marvelous 1850 folded cover to Nantes, France by an unusual perfectly struck and amazingly intense red numeral "5" in a double circle (stamp lifted and hinged in place), matching "Savannah Ga./5/Jul 18" c.d.s and straight line "Paid". at right, directed to go "per Liverpool Steamer at Boston", with red boxed "Colonies &c. Art.13" h.s., red "Angl/Calais/6 Aout 50" entry c.d.s. and black "15" rate marking, all on the front, London transit and French backstamps on the reverse, an extremely fine example of this scarce usage of the First Issue on a transatlantic cover to a foreign destination; an absolutely beautiful cover with great eye appeal.
