Celtic, Trinovantes and Catuvellauni, Cunobelin, (c.10-40 AD), silver Unit, 1.31g, 'Spiky' type, bust left with pointed beard and limed? hair, copied from Roman Republican L.Hostilius Saserna 'Vercingetorix' denarius?, cam before and vl behind, rev. seated victory right holding up object, cvn[o] below, ring-pellet before (ABC 2855 var.; VA 2045-1 var.; S.303 var.), metal somewhat porous and with contact marks, slightly pitted on bust, however, a superb rendition of this highly sought after bust variety on which the essential features are prominent, good very fine, an excessively rare variant
