provenance
Bt. Bennett, 17 March 2010
Found Andover, Hampshire

It has been confirmed by Dr John Sills of the Ashmolean Museum that this is probably the finest known obverse on a Gallo-Belgic E stater. Traces of design are, of course, known but such extensive visible design is quite exceptional. Close inspection of the design indicates that the same punch appears to have been used as for the reverse exergue. Also of note is the British findspot which is quite extremely rare for this coinage.
