1888 (28 July) envelope to Pietermaritzburg, bearing 1888 1d. lilac cancelled by "post office/entonjaneni" datestamp in violet, the reverse with Eshowe (30.7), Lower Tugela (30.7), Durban (31.7) and G.P.O. Natal (1.8) c.d.s.; a rare cover with the datestamp in violet only in use for a short time in 1888, and an early date of use of mail from this office. Photo
