1897 (13 Dec.) envelope from Eshowe "via Bloemfontein" to Sir Henry Bulwer at London, bearing 2½d. dull carmine and blue with double-ring datestamp, Durban (14.12) and London (8.1) c.d.s. on reverse; not apparently routed via Bloemfontein as it does not have the extra 2d. postage required for this route

Note: Sir Henry Bulwer was the Governor of Natal during the Anglo-Boer war and was vehemently opposed to the war
