1936 (1 June) unstamped envelope to England marked "Air mail" and showing a strike of the "everest, 1936" handstamp completed in manuscript "1.6.36 Camp 1", the reverse with "political officer/Arms/sikkim" oval handstamp in red largely covered by typed label inscribed "Suffered detentions in gangtok post office owing to the Postmaster's failure to affix postage stamps and to forward them in time. The Post-master has been sent to jail for this offense."; some singeing at edges and with rubber band mark across face panel, nevertheless a rare and unusual item. Photo
