1900 (31 Jan.) envelope (Allan Line crest on flap) to Montreal, showing a good strike of the oval-framed "canadian contingent/en route./south africa." datestamp in lilac, manuscript "10" due (deleted) replaced with "4", arrival c.d.s. (15.2) on reverse; tear through the cachet and flap damaged though only the second example of the cachet known on this date, used during the brief visit that the S.S. Laurentian was in St. Vincent, Cape Verde Islands. Photo
