1891 (2 Jan.) envelope to Liverpool, bearing 1886 4c. pink and 8c. green, both cancelled by 14 bar oval and showing very fine Sandakan c.d.s. (D4) in red alongside, arrival c.d.s. (9.2) on reverse. Neat and attractive. Photo

Note: North Borneo joined the U.P.U. on 1 January 1891. This cover is franked at the old 12c. rate which had been in effect from 1 November 1886 for half ounce letters direct to the UK, rather than the new rate introduced on 1 January 1891 of 8c. for the same route
