Note: This block comes from columns 1 and 2 of one of the two left panes from which the surcharge on the upper five or lower five rows of column 1 was originally omitted. On two occasions the sheet was placed inadvertently too far to the left in the press and the surcharge slipped one stamp to the right, with the sixth column of the surcharge registering the "One" on the interpanneau margin and "cent." on the left of the stamps of column 1 of the right pane. The missing surcharge in column 1 of the left pane was rectified by putting the left pane to press again, with columns 2-6 covered over with paper to avoid double surcharging.
