1747 A New and Accurate Map of the Caspian Sea, by Emanuel Bowen; 12¼ x 19 inches, original colour.

From "A Complete System of Geography" by Herman Moll. Handsome map of the lands surrounding Caspian Sea – Astrakhan, Independent Tartary, Persia, Shirwan and others, title cartouche at upper right. Emanuel Bowen was one of the leading English mapmakers of the eighteenth-century, and was unusual in that he was cartographer to both the French and English Royal Courts. With one decorative cartouche, a compass rose and a mileage scale.

Page reinforcement in the left margins, two small holes in the lower margin and some minor peripheral imperfections. Photo
