1626 The Turkish Empire. Newly Augmented, by John Speed; 20¾ x 16¼ inches, hand-coloured.

A fine example of the Bassett & Chiswell edition of Speed's map of the Turkish Empire printed in "Theatre of The World". One of the most decorative maps of the region issued in the 17th Century and the first map of the region published in England. Includes 8 views of Turkish Cities and 10 costumed figures plus ornate title and scale cartouche. English description on verso.

A little soiled on the reverse and a few edge repairs. A good example of this map. Photo
