Viceroys of India
The Viscount Wavell (1943-47): 1946 (10 September) typed letter on the Viceroy's House, New Delhi letterhead to Lieut.-Gen. Sir John Harding enquiring about the projected leave of his future son-in-law so that the marriage could be organised. He concludes with, "The political situation here remains very difficult, and will be until I can succeed in getting the Muslim League into the Constituent Assembly and the Government. Then perhaps it will be even more difficult. Politics are not at all in my line, and I am getting very tired of the whole business." Signed "Wavell". Also a photograph (8 x10 inches) of Wavell at his desk in civilian clothes. Photo
