1911 Coronation Durbar at Delhi
Commander George Tomlin of the 'Medina', his scrapbook and archive. An exceptional and detailed record of the travels of the 'Medina' carrying the King and Queen to India and back with newspaper cuttings, annotations of the commander's observations, Meteorological Office telegram and naval signals, several menu cards. An album of photographs including some of Commander Tomlin's personal pictures, photocards by Oscar Owers and a wide range by professional photographers, several of which were used by the press or for making post cards, with pictures of the royal guests on the 'Medina', the procession and Durbar in Delhi, the tiger hunt, the King and Queen on the Royal Train, Port Sudan and at Sinkat with pictures of the camel racing. Also commission of appointment of George Tomlin as a member of the Royal Victorian Order and is signed "George R.I.". A very interesting lot. Photo
