1911 Coronation Durbar at Delhi
An extensive study collection in two volumes with a wide range of the different postmarks and other related material commencing with picture post cards of the Royal yacht 'Medina' (2), a blank Coronation menu card, two letters of thanks to the Dowager Rani of Dewas, Old Bombay Exhibition postmark (2 covers), Clubland Pass and postcards; an important collection of the different Durbar cypher postmarks with the Coronation Durbar machine cancel and c.d.s., breakfast and dinner menus for Christmas day and Boxing day 1911, registered mail (4); King Emperor's Camp Post Office A (Delhi) with covers, picture post cards (2) and stamped note paper; the sub offices with covers of "A" Kashmir Gate (4) including registered, "B" Mori Gate on telegraph receipt, "E" Central Avenue (5) including registered and photo card of the post office, "F" Polo Ground (3), "K" Pembari Bridge, "L" Azadpur, "M" The Ridge (2) including an important O.H.M.S. envelope and letter from the President of the Coronation Durbar Committee, "1" Badli ki Sarai, "2" Cavalry Camp Station (2), "3" Horseshoe Jhil, "4" Amphitheatre, "5" Jhurauda with small crown and cypher (3), "6" The Island, "7" Wazirabad Road, "9" The Mall (3), "12" Dhaka (2).
Also letter from the Press Camp, Delhi, mourning envelope from Queen Alexandra to Queen Mary in India, letter to Major Berthon from Mahasaja of Kolhapur, Nawab Saheb Janjira, the ruler of Khairpur State and from a member of the Bombay Legislative Council.
The second volume concentrates on the postmarks of the Central Post Office with examples of the different datestamps on piece bearing K.E.VII values to 1r., a wide range of covers and cards displaying different dates and postmarks including a luggage label, invitation to the Durbar, a breakfast menu from the Kashmir Resident's Camp, telegrams (4) and much more.
