Charles II (1660-85), Five-Guineas, 1668 carolvs. ii. dei. gratia, first laureate bust right, pointed truncation, rev. inverted die axis, mag. br. fra. et. hib. rex., four crowned shields cruciform, eight strings to Irish harp, sceptres in angles, cross of four interlinked Cs in centre, edge with inverted raised letters, .+. decvs. et. tvtamen. anno. regni. vicesimo (MCE 1; Schneider -; S.3328), rubbed on the highpoints and a few scattered marks, attractive old tone around the details, particularly on the obverse, extremely fine and lustrous, the earliest date in the Five-Guinea series, and, without the elephant below the bust, one of the scarcer dates of the reign
